Wednesday, March 8, 2000 - Carole's 30 days to make the corrections specified by the Housing Inspector expire. Final count - Three fixed, one negotiable, five neglected. See the inspector's report on our documents page.
Sunday, March 19, 2000 - Paul found Bober parked in his space again. After a half-hour of semi-impaired pleas to move the car, Paul shat on Bober's windshield.
Monday, March 20, 2000 - The police visit Paul. Read more about it on the police page.

Friday, March 24, 2000 AM - The Fire Marshal visits at our request. He showed up with a letter in hand to demand corrections. He'd visited in July, and informed Carole that corrections needed to be made. He actually knew more about some of our problems than we'd told the housing inspector.
Friday, March 24, 2000 PM - After following the mysterious Volvo from our driveway to Carole's driveway, Bill is served with a stalking warning. There was a significant delay in answering the door, as Bill thought it might already be an eviction notice. You can read more about this on our documents page, our police page, and the Meet the Slumlord page. This was truly a defining moment for the house.
Tuesday, March 28, 2000 - We received our report from the Scott Lawson Group. Our asbestos debris sample from the basement was found to be 50% chrysotile. Other materials were not tested, as one positive is enough to bump it up to the state enforcement level. The housing inspector was notified.
Friday, March 31, 2000 - All residents (except Bober - the narc) received a notice from Carole's attorney that all rent checks should now be written to the attorney and mailed to the attorney. Speculation is rampant that she needs our rent as a retainer to hold off the City. See a copy of the attorney's letter on our documents page.
Saturday, April 1, 2000 - We send a letter to Carole and her attorney notifying them that we will be withholding rent "until these substantial threats to the safety of all tenants are corrected." Read more about it on our documents page.
Monday, April 3, 2000 - Carole's deadline for submitting a plan to correct fire code violations passes.
Tuesday, April 4, 2000 - The Fire Marshal tells us that Carole is "already being served" for her failure to submit a plan of action.
Wednesday, April 5, 2000 - Another letter from Carole's attorney. They'd like carte blanche to run a bunch of real estate agents through the house at an undisclosed time later this week.
Thursday, April 6, 2000 - Spoke to Mary Keohan Ganz, Carole's attorney. She explained that they would only be bringing one real estate appraiser through the house, and that she would post a note on the door to let us know when she was coming.
Friday, April 7, 2000 - There was a real estate agent at the house today. She was not an appraiser, but was here with a client who was considering buying the house. No notice had been posted on the door, as promised by Carole's attorney just the day before. Over her objections, Aaron read a list of housing and fire code violations about the property. The client left the house minutes later, and the real estate agent was steamed.
Saturday, April 8, 2000 Early PM - Today Luis from New England Lock and Safe showed up to change the locks on several rooms after Bober (the narc) moved out. He told us that Carole was supposed to meet him here. As he was in his van re-keying the locks, Carole arrived. She wandered through the house, taking photos of the basement and the contents of our bulletin board. We took photos of her, and she insisted that she was "here with the permission of a resident." When we asked her who, she said that was "confidential, but I'd do the same for you." The most popular contradictions of the day were:
|
Saturday, April 8, 2000 Later PM - Bill called Officer Lepkowski of the Anti-stalking division to report that Carole had come here unescorted, and he was concerned that she was trying to bait him. It was around this time that we notice Carole had stolen some mail that we had been asked to hold for Bober (the narc).
Saturday, April 8, 2000 Very Late PM - Aaron called the Dover Police to seek a restraining order against Carole. The officer explained that we may not have an expectation of privacy in the public areas of our home, but that this was a civil matter and not a criminal matter and we would have to talk to the court to pursue this any further.
