Welcome to Our Slum - Documentation
A good story is nothing more than a story without documentation. With documentation, it's "true crime."
Note that the scanned images are uncompressed jpeg files, and are rather large.
- In January, Kevin wrote a letter to Carole informing her of maintenance problems and the New Hampshire Statues she was violating. Check out either the text version of Kevin's letter.
- In early February, we received a copy of the Housing inspector's letter to Carole, spelling out the necessary repairs. You can read the text version of the Inspector's letter or see a scan of the Inspector's letter (page 2).
- The Fire Marshal showed up for his inspection with a letter outlining violations in hand. You can read the text version of the Marshal's letter or see the Marshal's letter as a scan.
- In his letter, the Fire Marshal refers to a previous inspection he conducted. You can read the text list of violations or see the scanned list of violations.
- That was also the day that Carole gave Bill a stalking warning. You can read the text of the stalking warning or see the actual stalking warning from Officer Lepkowski of the Dover Anti-Stalking Unit.
- The next week we received the results from our asbestos analysis. You can see the poorly scanned copy of a fax, or your can read the abreviated text version.
- On April Fool's Day, we notified Carole and her attorney that we would be withholding rent until this slum was a safe slum. You should probably just read the text version of our withholding notice as it's just a plain text document with no exciting letterhead.
- Just before we sent the withholding letter, we received a letter from Carole's attorney telling us to make our checks payable to the attorney. Again, your options include a scanned version of the letter from the attorney or a text version of our notice to pay the hangman.
- Three days after the first letter from the Ganz Law Office, we got another one. This one told us to expect a stream of S. R. Associates folks through the house before the end of the week. No specific times were given, so we were unable to arrange to be here. You can read the text of the letter now, but you'll have to wait a while for a scan.
- Wondering why we can withhold our rent while we wait for repairs? Read RSA 540:13-d and learn what a "defense to violations of fitness" is.
